Buggah, Bogga or Bugga Sharif is an area in Tehsil Pind Dadan Khan of District Jhelum. It is located on the left side of river Jhelum in the salt range region. The villages next to the river Jhelum in this belt are called Kadhi. The region of District Khushab originates at the ending point of Kadhi. Bugga Sharif is 2 Km away from the river Jhelum. The distance varies due to soil and river erosion. In the west is Sial and eastwards is the village of Ahmedabad. The Northern side is vastly inhabited with salt ranges and barren land. The other nearby localities are Khanna Village, Dhadi Thal and Lillah Sharif.
Bugga Sharif is the native village of the Bugvi Family and was one of the centers for religious education set up by the Ulema in Punjab. The Bugvi brothers and family continuously travelled between Shahpur, Sargodha, Bugga Sharif, Bhera and Lahore to propagate Islam and manage the institutions, Madrassahs set up in these localities.
The weather is cold and dry in winter and extremely hot in Summer. Rainfall is very scarce and the underground water is salty and brackish. The crops such as wheat, maize and canola are grown here. The land is rich and fertile however a huge effort is required to gain agricultural produce and gain. The provision of water is ensured by building rainwater ponds where fresh water is stored after rain for future use. The other source of water is by pumps from the river Jhelum. The prospect of getting quality education. Skills training and knowledge is difficult in this remote area. Inhabitants join the army as a source of employment. The communication has improved through building of roads during the past 20 years and connection has been made with Lillah Sharif and Khushab. The population of the area stands at around 2000 individuals and some families have outhouses along the bank of river Jhelum. People mostly live in earthen houses with little civic and social facilities. An old mosque called Qazioon Wali Masjid associated with the Bugvi Ulema is still present. Another famous monument is the burial place of Hazrat Shah Zinda present half kilometer from Bugga Sharif.
